There are a very large number of development strategies, programmes and projects being implemented worldwide, all of which bring their own knowledge and learning on the best approaches to development assistance and its performance assessment, yet not all this information is being captured and used. Although the level of information on approaches and methods on the performance of different types of assistance has significantly increased, it is not necessarily available in an accessible and usable form to support the design and implementation of future work. Awareness of the missed opportunities in knowledge management and learning is increasing. In recent years, the aid community has made efforts to gather information in a more organised manner and develop ways in which it can be used collaboratively in future development assistance by building on what is being learned.
Triple Line has carried out some key assignments in knowledge management in the last three years for bilateral and multilateral donors, the results of which have acted as catalysts for more coordinated action by donors in the use and communication of information about the performance of development assistance.
