David and Barbara, together with two external consultants, undertook the Mid-Term Review of ASARECA (the Association for Strengthening Agricultural Research in Eastern and Central Africa). This involved working with ASARECA secretariat management and staff in Entebbe, Uganda, and discussions with sub-grantees in Uganda and Tanzania. ASARECA is an African-led umbrella organisation supporting agricultural research systems in ten Eastern and Central African (ECA) countries, operating a regional competitive research grant scheme. The findings and recommendations of the MTR will be used to refine ASARECA’s implementation arrangements and procedures. ASARECA is funded by a multi-donor trust fund, as well as contributions from other development partners and the ten ASARECA member countries. See www.asareca.org for details.
