Training on monitoring and evaluation for the Ministry of Agriculture

The DFID-funded project ‘Support to Strategic Planning for Sustainable Rural Livelihoods’ (SSPSRL) aimed to strengthen the capacity of  the Afghan Government institutions concerned with agriculture and rural development, namely the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL), to formulate effective policies and strategies. As part of this support, SSPSRL provided training and mentoring to MAIL staff in Monitoring and Evaluation.

Services provided

Triple Line developed and delivered a training course on applied Monitoring and Evaluation for directors and staff of MAIL and prepared recommendations for a ministry-wide M&E system. An M&E tool kit / training manual was prepared for MAIL. Training included field-based activities in three provinces of Afghanistan.

Achievements

The training course was well received by MAIL staff. The M&E tool kit was translated into Dari and Pashtu, and is used by the Ministry to further develop and strengthen the M&E capacity of staff.
