Support to the civil society umbrella programme

The Civil Society Umbrella Programme (CSUP) was a DFID funded programme which aims to provide a support mechanism for civil society organisations in Uganda which will enable effective engagement in poverty reduction efforts as set out in the Government of Uganda’s policies.  The overall objective of the project was to develop and implement a capacity building programme for Ugandan civil society organisations to improve their skills in policy monitoring  and enabling greater accountability of the Government.

Services provided

Triple Line provided technical services for a three-year period to develop and implement the programme, assisting organisations that have received funding from DFID Uganda in relation to rights awareness, policy development and policy monitoring. This involved facilitation, assessment of capacity development needs and provision of technical capacity development support, monitoring and evaluation of projects or proposals.

Achievements

  • The CSUP has enabled civil society organisation to influence policy more effectively by facilitating open forum discussions on national and local policies that impact on the poor.
  • Triple Line designed and delivered the training in all aspects of organisation at strategic and functional level.
  • Triple Line worked closely with our Ugandan partner Aclaim Africa and transferred skills to our Ugandan team ensuring improved value for money for DFID over the course of the project as well as strengthening the capacity of local technical service provision.
